It has been said that “in riding a horse we borrow freedom.  In 2000, I decided to fulfill a dream to share that freedom with those whose lives, minds, and bodies are not as free.  And so, inspired by my life experiences and training, I opened my heart and the doors to freedomfarm-- a therapeutic riding center in Waverly, Minnesota.
Our Horses

Laura riding Doc with Jo & DavidDo you have 1 hour a week to spend with a child who's smile will melt your heart?  It's so easy.  Each student needs 3 volunteers:  2 sidewalkers and 1 leader.  A sidewalker walks on each side of the rider while they are on the horse.  A leader is the person handling the horse.  Our lessons run from April through October:  3 sessions - Spring, Summer & Fall.  You can volunteer for all sessions or just one.

Connor & Domino with Tom & JimEvery Freedomfarm Volunteer needs to attend one annual training and complete annual Volunteer Forms.  Training sessions last 1 1/2 hours and the forms can be downloaded below.  Freedomfarm volunteers usually sign up for 1 or 2 hours per week, but this varies per session.
