It has been said that “in riding a horse we borrow freedom.  In 2000, I decided to fulfill a dream to share that freedom with those whose lives, minds, and bodies are not as free.  And so, inspired by my life experiences and training, I opened my heart and the doors to freedomfarm-- a therapeutic riding center in Waverly, Minnesota.

    • 19yr old registered QH Gelding. His registered name is INQUISITIVE LARK , a RUGGED LARK grandson. freedomfarm purchased Larry in 2005. His prior owners showed Larry in western pleasure and reining.
  • ROCKY
    • 15 yr old paint pony. Rocky was purchased 3 years ago. He was a family pony until he came to freedomfarm
  • SNICKERS
    • 19 yr old Registered QH gelding. His registered name is AUTUMNS BOY. Snickers was purchased by freedomfarm in 2005. Snickers was shown in western pleasure, roping, and working cow horse.
  • TANGO
    • 11 yr old Registered QH Gelding. His Registered name is LITTLE MO CHIP. Tango was purchased by freedomfarm 1 year ago. Tango has been trained for working cow horse and was at a barn giving lessons to children before we purchased him.

a note from Susie ...   Freedomfarm is celebrating!  My heart is filled with incredible joy as I look back at our humble beginnings.  But most cherished are the relationships with so many families and volunteers and the many success stories... riders that have never spoken, spoke their first words here, signed their first requests here, riders that when at school can complete only a 2 step task but when on a horse complete 7, riders who know they are not like other kids at school and get treated differently-come here and let their spirits soar, the confidence then carries over to school.  All while atop their beautiful horse.

Freedomfarm accepts matching grant from the Minnesota Horse CouncilJanuary 16, 2010  Freedomfarm receives a matching grant from the Minnesota Horse Council for the SureHands Lift.  Susie Bjorklund & Sue Claussen accept grant from Mark Ward, MHC President, at the Annual Awards Banquet.
